Just watched the documentary "Beer Wars," and there's a brilliantly sarcastic segment about beer advertising during previous Super Bowls. The director interviews CEOs of Miller, Coors (then two different companies; they hadn't yet merged) and AB, all of whom say that they are trying to offer an "innovative, fresh" product and market themselves "in new exciting ways" to the American public.

Then, the film cuts to beer commercials during an actual SuperBowl, which all promote the same style of beer (watered down lager) in the exact same way (guys getting whacked in the balls, beautiful blondes fighting, animals--frogs, dogs, horses--doing funny things).

I have to agree. I recently read a tweet from HopCity about getting the HopSlam in and it tried to stir up rumors of extreme scarcity. Then, last night, at the Edgewood Kroger, I found several stray bottles in the 'make your own 6 pack' section. Although they did not have sixpacks, I could have put one together for less then $9, while at HopCity they were over $14 (I think). Now this is a Kroger with what I would call a middle of the road beer selection; good for Kroger, but not good. But still they had the HopSlam!
